Don’t waste time and make mistakes entering information from tickets, license plates, ID cards, badges, .... use OCR on your Android mobile !
The formats that can be started from the receipt to the format to be defined according to the fonts and camera definition of the chosen device.
The medium can mix characters and barcodes.
Explanations of the principles and possibilities of single-field and multi-field OCR.
We have the ability to decrypt characters and barcodes from a single shot, from a document. We want to share its powerful results with you through a test OCR application.
We have developed for you an OCR test application for Android.
The application takes a photo, analyses the characters in this photo and returns the content to you.

The question to be answered is : is it possible to read characters and if so under what conditions, at what speed and what are the limits of integration in our customised software or application generators on smartphones / ruggedized terminals ?
In short : yes we can read and decode characters, on smartphone or Androïd mobile hardened terminal.
The objective here is to say what we can or cannot do, the "how" is done in training or development.
Simple case : reading a character model
Example : read 8 characters on 1 line, or read 4 numbers on the first line and 8 on the second, and barcodes (1D and 2D).
Condition : The font of the printed characters is OCR-A or OCR-B, numbers or letters
The answer : we can read these characters without any special licence added on a range of our mobile terminals, after setting the parameters and using the "wedge" mode in our programmes.
The scanning speed is : fast, the maximum distance : approx. 20cm made after an imager.
So applications in proximity, on standard characters, on sheet or label can be created.
So we can say that the following types of mobile applications can be used to capture these types of data :
NB : none of the French identity papers use OCR-A or B
Complex case : reading a form according to a model
The purpose is to read several typed fields or checkboxes, store a signature on an already printed form provided.
A range of terminals offers a manufacturer’s licence in order to define form models in which fields to be captured, decoded (checkbox, typed field) or stored as an image are defined. (signature).
This case is carried out in a slow way (centering in the lens of the A4 form), by the camera. The licence recognises the model and decodes according to the instructions, offers decoding to the user who corrects manually. The data is then sent to the calling application.
Intermediate case : reading several barcodes on a label (e.g. Galia)
(and without OCR)
Our two ranges of terminals can do this but differently.
One by continuous scanning of the label by the imager’s wedge, the codes must have a distinctive format such as a different letter at the beginning of the code.
The other by a single scan with manufacturer’s licence and predefined model as above but by the imager (very fast).
Conclusion on complex readings :
Our technical teams are constantly looking for the simplest ways to enable you to read complex cases automatically and quickly on the move.
